Super Bowl Odds Update After Week 12: Ravens and 49ers on Collision Course

  • The Patriots (+300) remain slight Super Bowl favorites at BetOnline after an ugly 13-9 win over the Cowboys
  • The Ravens (+350) and 49ers’ (+500) will square off in Week 13
  • The Titans (+10000) have won four of five games since turning to quarterback Ryan Tannehill

What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object?

We’ll get our answer on Sunday when MVP frontrunner Lamar Jackson and the 9-2 Ravens host a 10-1 49ers team that just held Aaron Rodgers to 104 passing yards at a measly 3.2 yards per attempt.

Let’s examine the latest Super Bowl odds ahead of their pivotal showdown and look at other marquee Week 13 games that will impact the big board, below.

RAVENS VS. 49ERS

Somehow available at +1400 after Week 7, the Ravens (+350) continue to rise up the board after smashing the Rams 45-6 on Monday Night Football. Blowouts are becoming a bit of a habit for a Baltimore club that has outscored opponents by an average of four touchdowns per game over the past five contests.

After demolishing the Packers 37-8 a night earlier in front of Al and Cris, the 49ers (+500) are the first 10-1 squad in more than a decade to enter Week 13 as an underdog.

While San Francisco is allowing just 136.9 passing yards per game — the fewest by any team since 1980 — they are permitting 111.1 yards per game on the ground (19th in the league).

Needless to say, that’s one weakness that Jackson can exploit. Looking to become the NFL’s youngest MVP since Jim Brown in 1958, the 22-year-old is on pace to break Michael Vick’s 2006 record for most rushing yards by a quarterback in a season (1,039) by more than 200 yards.

With a victory on Sunday, the Ravens should finally usurp the Patriots as the Super Bowl favorite.

WHAT ELSE TO WATCH OUT FOR IN WEEK 13

After both were hammered by Baltimore earlier this November, the Patriots and Texans meetup on Sunday. Slipping into the role of “game manager” in a campaign reminiscent of Peyton Manning’s 2015 swan song, Tom Brady has passed for 216 yards and 190 yards in successive wins against the Eagles and Cowboys.

If New England’s defense shuts down Deshaun Watson, look for Houston’s odds to lengthen from +3300 next week. While predicting a championship for any member of the AFC South would be foolish, I’d rather take a shot on a Titans (+10000) team that has won four of five games since turning to quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

Sitting only a game behind their divisional rivals, Tennessee will meet the Texans twice in the season’s final five weeks.

Minnesota (+2000) heads to Seattle (+1200) on Monday night to close out Week 13. All three of the Vikings’ losses have come on the road this season, but strangely enough the 9-2 Seahawks have already lost twice at CenturyLink Field.

Russell Wilson will have an opportunity to reclaim some of the MVP momentum he lost to Lamar in the past week while potentially drawing his team to within a game of the Niners if they should fall to Baltimore.

The situation is equally as dire for Kirk Cousins and the Vikings, who absolutely need a victory to claim the NFC North over a Packers club that has a soft schedule down the stretch.

If you’re making a Super Bowl bet today, I prefer Seattle at +1200 to New Orleans at +600, and Minnesota is a much stronger value at +2000 than America’s favorite public teams, the Packers and the Cowboys.

One month into the college football season and things don’t really look how we expected.
