Super Bowl Odds Update After Week 10 See Saints Drop, Ravens Rise

  • The Saints (+650) remain BetOnline’s Super Bowl favorite in the NFC despite a surprising loss to the Falcons
  • The Ravens (+650) are now viewed as a top-three title contender after notching their fifth-straight win against the hapless Bengals
  • An overtime win over the previously-undefeated 49ers has lifted the Seahawks to +1400

Just when New Orleans was starting to look like the NFL’s most-complete team, the 1-7 Atlanta Falcons waltzed into the Superdome and handed their NFC South rivals a humbling 26-9 loss in Week 10.

The head-scratching result was far from the only upset on the day, however. Kansas City’s sloppy play led to a 35-32 defeat to Ryan Tannehill’s Titans and San Francisco lost their first game of the season to the Seahawks in an instant Monday Night Football classic.

With the Saints, 49ers and Chiefs all seeing their title odds dip at BetOnline, let’s take a closer look at the franchises who have emerged as surprise Super Bowl contenders.

BALTIMORE RAVENS

One week after dismantling the previously-undefeated Patriots 37-20, the Ravens rolled the winless Bengals 49-13 on the strength of yet another MVP performance by Lamar Jackson, who became the first quarterback in NFL history to finish two games in the same season with a perfect passer rating.

Available at +4000 before the season, Baltimore (+650) is now viewed as a top-three Super Bowl favorite, ahead of the 49ers, Packers and Chiefs, and the question now is whether any defensive coordinator is going to be able to stop Lamar.

Beating teams with his arm and legs, Jackson is completing 65.9 percent of his passes for 2,036 yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions, while adding 702 yards and six touchdowns on the ground with a league-leading 6.6 yards per carry.

Get your popcorn ready for this Sunday’s matchup between the Ravens second-year sensation and the Texans’ Deshaun Watson, who narrowly defeated Jackson in the 2016 Heisman Trophy race.

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

While Lamar Jackson has taken the league by storm, the NFL’s other top MVP contender was largely forget about heading into the year.

Russell Wilson now leads the NFL in touchdown passes (23) and passer rating (114.9) after his latest masterpiece. Rebounding from an uncharacteristic red-zone interception in overtime, Wilson scampered for 18 yards to set up the game-winning field goal against the Niners and pull Seattle within a game of the division lead.

Jadeveon Clowney’s monster Monday night performance (5 tackles, sack, forced fumble, defensive TD) also bodes well for a Seahawks defense that has looked mediocre through most of the year.

Listed at +3300 in the preseason, the Seahawks now have the seventh-best odds to win the Super Bowl at +1400. Following their bye, Seattle will face a tough slate (Eagles, Vikings, Rams, Panthers, Cardinals, 49ers) to close the season, but at this point it’s almost impossible to bet against Russell Wilson.
