Streaking Ravens Road Chalk at Rams on Monday

The Baltimore Ravens will be aiming to extend their league-best straight-up win streak to seven games when they take on the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football as 3.5-point road favorites on the NFL betting odds.

Baltimore further solidified its hold on top spot in the AFC North standings with a 41-7 rout of the visiting Houston Texans last weekend, and now takes an 8-2 SU record into Monday night’s game at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

The Ravens have steadily gained momentum since overcoming a brief two-game SU slide back in September, posting increasingly lopsided victories over the course of their current six-game surge. Baltimore has claimed victory by double-digit margins in each of its past four outings, averaging 39.25 points per game during that stretch while surrendering just 14 points per game.

That has generated a steady 4-0 run for the Ravens against the NFL spread, including impressive outright victories over New England and Seattle, both as underdogs on the NFL lines. But despite racking up such lofty point totals, the Ravens have failed to produce steady results in totals betting, with the OVER prevailing just twice over their past five contests, and going 5-4 over their past nine.

However, the Ravens’ impressive run has caught the attention of oddsmakers. Now sporting a three-game lead over the second-place Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC North standings, the Ravens sit as heavy -3300 favorites to repeat as divisional champions. Baltimore has also made steady gains on the Super Bowl odds and now trails only the Patriots as a +400 bet.

While the Ravens sport one of the stingiest defenses in the NFL, ranking sixth while allowing an average of just 19.6 points per game, the emergence of Lamar Jackson as an elite NFL quarterback has been a game changer. The second-year passer has been spectacular over the team’s past two outings, throwing for seven touchdowns and rushing for an eighth, and has steadily climbed to the top of the NFL MVP odds, where he now sits as a +150 favorite.

The Ravens have also held the upper hand in recent dates with the Rams, posting SU wins in three meetings since 2007 while surrendering just 7.7 points per game over that stretch to go 2-0-1 ATS.

Rams Seek Offense as Underdog on Monday Night

The Rams could be hard pressed to reverse that trend after struggling to generate offense over their past two contests, capped by a 17-7 win over the visiting Chicago Bears last weekend as 5.5-point home favorites on the NFL odds.

Overall, Los Angeles has tallied just 14.5 points per game over its past two contests, including an ugly 17-12 loss in Pittsburgh as 4.5-point chalk, and has failed to score more than 20 points in three of its past five outings. The Rams have impressed on defense during their current 3-2 SU run, limiting opponents to 10 or fewer points in each of their three recent victories, and allowing an average of just 12.8 points per game over those five contests. That has generated a steady run of success for bettors taking the UNDER, which has gone 5-0 in the Rams’ past five games, and 7-3 so far this season.

However, the trend has been toward big point totals when the Rams appear on Monday Night Football. Los Angeles survived an epic clash with the Kansas City Chiefs when the two squads battled in prime time last November, posting a 54-51 victory. That marked the second straight Monday Night Football contest involving the Rams that saw the total top 45, and snapped the team’s three-game SU home skid when playing on Monday in prime time.
