The Seattle Seahawks will be looking to extend their season-high straight-up win streak to six games when they visit the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night Football as narrow 1-point favorites on the NFL betting odds.
Seattle is coming off a 37-30 win over Minnesota earlier this week on Monday Night Football, and has averaged 29.6 points per game during the team’s current win streak going into Sunday night’s matchup at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
Now sporting a 10-2 SU record, and in control of top spot in the NFC West standings following San Francisco’s loss in Baltimore, the Seahawks have made steady gains on the Super Bowl odds, where they now sit among the favorites, joining the 49ers at +700.
The Seahawks have built their record on strong road performances, going 6-0 SU in contests away from CenturyLink Field and regularly covering the NFL spread while going 5-1 ATS. While the offense has run up the score at times, the Seattle defense has been steady, allowing just 17.7 points per game over three road wins during the team’s current win streak.
However, the Seahawks have produced uneven results in NFL betting when pegged as narrow favorites. Seattle owns a 7-2 SU record in its past nine outings while favored by three or fewer points, but sports a middling 3-3-1 ATS record on the NFL lines over their past seven.
Seattle has also struggled to produce steady results against the Rams. The Seahawks earned a narrow 30-29 win over Los Angeles as 1.5-point home chalk back in Week 5, improving their shaky head-to-head record to 4-7 SU in 11 meetings since the start of the 2014 season. However, the Seahawks have proven to be a reliable wager when playing on Sunday night, posting wins in five straight appearances and averaging 35.8 points per game.
Rams Coming Off Rout as Road Betting Favorites
The Rams return home on a high following last weekend’s confidence-building 34-7 rout of the Arizona Cardinals as 2.5-point road chalk. Los Angeles has stumbled badly since opening the NFL football season on a 3-0 SU run, going 4-5 SU on the NFL odds over its past nine outings, and failing to record consecutive wins over its past four contests.
Those struggles extend to games on home turf, where the Rams have fallen to defeat in three of their past five contests, capped by a demoralizing 45-6 defeat at the hands of the high-powered Ravens as 3.5-point underdogs two weeks ago.
Indeed, the Rams have struggled to generate offense when playing at home since suffering a stunning 55-40 loss to Tampa Bay back in Week 4, averaging just 13.5 points per game in four home dates since. Those low-scoring ways have fueled a steady run of success for the UNDER in totals betting which has gone 6-1 over the Rams’ past seven games, and 8-4 on the season.
However, the Rams should enter Sunday night’s contest with a sense of desperation. Los Angeles enters Week 14 trailing the Minnesota Vikings by one game in the hunt for the second NFC wild card, and sports +250 odds of advancing to the postseason. But while the Rams have a 1-2 SU record against divisional opponents this season, they are 10-3 SU in their past 13 divisional matchups, and 4-1 SU in their past five home dates with Seattle.
The Rams are also undefeated in two previous appearances this season on Sunday Night Football, surrendering just 20 total points in victories over Cleveland and Chicago. However, they failed to score a touchdown while falling to defeat in two previous Sunday primetime dates with the Seahawks.
