Seahawks Host Vikings as Monday Betting Favorites

The NFC wild card race heats up this weekend as the Seattle Seahawks host the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football as 3-point favorites on the Week 13 NFL betting odds.

Seattle returns home riding a four-game straight-up win streak after escaping with a narrow 17-9 win in Philadelphia last weekend, lifting the team’s SU record to 9-2 on the season, one game up on Minnesota at the NFC wild card standings going into Monday night’s game at CenturyLink Field.

The Seahawks’ victory over the Eagles as 2-point road chalk leaves them sporting a perfect 6-0 SU record on the road during the NFL football season. The team has struggled at times to produce steady results on home turf, going 2-2 SU in their past four outings including losses to the playoff-bound Baltimore Ravens and New Orleans Saints, both as betting favorites on the NFL lines.

The Seahawks have also posted wins against the NFL spread in each of their past three contests, but have struggled to regularly reward bettors when playing at home, going 1-4 ATS in five home dates. Indeed, Seattle has been far from dominant on home turf, claiming victory by a combined margin of just four points in three SU victories, over Tampa Bay, the Los Angeles Rams, and winless Cincinnati.

However, the Seahawks have proven reliable in home games played in the month of December, going 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS in their past four, and 10-5 ATS in their past 15 since 2013. Sports bettors taking the OVER in totals betting when the Seahawks play at home during the regular season have also been rewarded. The OVER has gone 7-3 in Seattle’s past 10, including three of the Seahawks’ past four home dates.

And while the Seahawks lead the way in the wild card race, they also remain in contention for top spot in the NFC West, trailing the San Francisco 49ers by just one game. With the potential for the division to not be decided until Week 17, when the Seahawks host the Niners, Seattle remains pegged as a strong +160 second favorite on the NFC West futures, and should have plenty of motivation in Monday night’s matchup.

Vikings Return From Bye Riding Winning Streak

The Vikings return from a bye in Week 12 riding a two-game SU win streak. Like the Seahawks, Minnesota also remains entrenched in a tight divisional battle, deadlocked with Green Bay atop the NFC North standings with an 8-3 SU record, but lags behind the Packers on tiebreakers as a result of a 21-16 loss at Lambeau Field in Week 2.

Monday’s contest marks the Vikings’ third meeting with a playoff contender in four outings. The team dropped a narrow 28-24 decision in Kansas City as 5.5-point favorites on the NFL odds back in Week 9, but followed up with a 28-24 win in Dallas as 3-point underdogs a week later to improve to 3-1 SU and ATS in NFL betting over their past four dates away from US Bank Stadium.

However, the Vikings have enjoyed no success in recent dates with the Seahawks, falling to SU defeat in five regular-season and playoff meetings since 2009. The Minnesota offense has been ineffective in the team’s past three clashes with the Seahawks, scoring just 23 total points, including a 21-7 loss in their last visit to Seattle in December of last year.

Are NFL Players Safer Without Hip Drop Tackle?

Last offseason, the NFL decided to ban the hip drop tackle. For those unaware, a hip drop tackle occurs when a tackler wraps up a ball carrier with both hands or arms then swivels his hips and unweights himself (leaves his feet) to complete the tackle. The result of the tackle typically leaves the tackler […] The post Are NFL Players Safer Without Hip Drop Tackle? appeared first on Sportsbook Advisor . from Sportsbook Advisor https://ift.tt/m09iAka via IFTTT
