WHO’S FOR REAL IN THE NFC WEST?
The Los Angeles Rams’ Sunday-night win over a bad Browns team improved their record to 3-0, but this team is a distant cry from last year’s offensive juggernaut.
With arthritis sucking the life out of Todd Gurley’s prime, opponents have had a relatively easy time shutting down the team’s passing attack. In the 11 games since the Rams 54-51 win over the Chiefs last season, Jared Goff has averaged only 236 passing yards per game with 11 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and a 6.63 YPA.
Sean McVay, alone, keeps them as contenders, but +750 seems a bit rich for a team that can no longer run or pass effectively.

The 49ers are also 3-0 (for the first time since 1998) after squeaking out a 24-20 win over the Steelers in which they turned the ball over five times. Jimmy Garoppolo is now 9-2 as a starter under coach Kyle Shanahan, who seemingly has a never-ending supply of ball carriers to replace his injured stars.
The defense has clearly improved by leaps and bounds. The unit, which forced a league-low seven turnovers all of last season, has already matched that number in 2019. Havoc plays suddenly abound in the Bay Area.
Coming out of their bye week, San Francisco will host Cleveland on Monday Night Football before heading to Tinseltown for a NFC West showdown with the Rams in Week 6.
ARE THE PACKERS REALLY BACK?
If someone told you before the season that Aaron Rodgers would fail to top 235 yards passing in each of his first three games, you would naturally assume that the Hall of Fame QB was headed towards another sub-.500 year … and potential jail time for the manslaughter of new head coach Matt LaFleur.
However, while the new offense has been anything but impressive, Mike Pettine’s Packer defense has already forced eight turnovers through three games.
“The offense is improving, I love the way our defense is playing right now… It feels good to be 3-0!”

Brought in as free agents, linebackers Za’Darius Smith and Preston Smith have combined for 24 tackles, 7.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and and interception. Meanwhile, 2018 first-round pick Jaire Alexander is demonstrating All-Pro potential at cornerback.
If Rodgers and LaFleur can ever get on the same page, Green Bay could emerge alongside Dallas as the best bet in the NFC.
