Betting On When Major US Sports Will Resume Play

The US along with the rest of the world is bracing for the worse of the current coronavirus outbreak in the next few weeks. Drastic measures have been put into place to slow down the spread but the only true resolution of this crisis is to let it run its course.

Just about every single business and industry has been negatively impacted by this deadly virus. One of the first and biggest impacts was on the world of sports. All the major sporting leagues on a global scale ceased operations in mid-March when the early impacts of COVID-19 were first being felt.

Sportsbook – Navigating The Current Sports Betting Void

As it stands, the NBA and NHL season remain on hold as league officials try and plan out a scenario to complete the current season. The new MLB season never even got of the ground and now there are rumblings of how the NFL 2020 season may be impacted this coming fall. Right now, it remains anyone’s guess as to how long sports and sporting events will remain on the shelf.

Optimism for a quick resolution is pretty much gone. A week or so back, you could find betting props at online sportsbooks covering this issue. The start of NBA, NHL and MLB games before June 1 had rather long odds posted at the end of March. The betting odds for games before July 1 still favored NO but to a much lesser extent. At that time, all three major sports leagues appeared to be on-track to resuming play sometime in July. Even that timeframe could be in jeopardy according to many of the health experts reporting on the progress towards a return to normalcy.

2020 Casino Gaming Options at Online Sportsbooks

The biggest game in town this April for avid sports bettors is the 2020 NFL Draft. It will proceed in a virtual formant from Thursday, April 23 through Saturday, April 25 with a full seven rounds. The online sports bookie are making the most of the situation with a long list of prop bet opportunities.

Over the past several years, betting on the NFL’s draft has become more and more popular. With everything else off the board right now, April’s proceedings could turn into one of the biggest sports betting events of the year.

The latest word from Adam Silver as the commissioner of the NBA is that no decisions as to the future of this season will be made until May at the earliest. There are far too many unknowns to detail a plan off how and when the league can get back on the court.

The NBA was the first major sports league to shut things down after Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive for the coronavirus. It is more than likely that the NBA will continue to set the timeline for other sports looking to get back to work.

Horse racing at a few major tracks continues in the absence of fans. NASCAR is now following suit on a virtual basis. A recent decision from Nevada Gaming Control cleared the way for legal betting on the 2020 eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series. The first event was held this past weekend.

There is also a renewed interest in virtual NBA action. NBA 2K has joined forces with Twitch.com to offer a players tournament complete with betting lines at online sportsbook.

More and more virtual betting opportunities will probably pop up given the complexities of betting on when actual live sports will resume play.

Are NFL Players Safer Without Hip Drop Tackle?

Last offseason, the NFL decided to ban the hip drop tackle. For those unaware, a hip drop tackle occurs when a tackler wraps up a ball carrier with both hands or arms then swivels his hips and unweights himself (leaves his feet) to complete the tackle.
