NFL Week 6 Odds: Game Lines, Picks and Predictions

  • Go to Bovada for updated spreads, moneylines and over/unders for every Week 6 NFL game
  • Aaron Rodgers and the Packers are 1-point road favorites over Tom Brady’s Buccaneers on Sunday
  • Deshaun Watson’s Texans are +160 to hand the Titans their first loss of the season

While we didn’t foresee the Raiders upsetting the Chiefs or the Dolphins demolishing the 49ers last Sunday, we did go 3-1 against the spread in Week 5 to improve our batting average to a Randy Arozarena-esque .684 (13-6) this season.

With no Thursday nighter and four teams on bye (Chargers, Raiders, Saints, Seahawks), there are 12 games on the main slate on Sunday, followed by Chiefs/Bills and Cardinals/Cowboys on Monday night. Let’s check Bovada for the latest Week 6 odds and make some picks.

COVERING THE SPREAD

Tom Brady and the Buccaneers will host Aaron Rodgers and the undefeated Packers in the NFL’s marquee game of the week. Tampa Bay struggled to move the ball in a 20-19 loss to the Bears that was highlighted by TB12’s fourth-down gaffe, but the expected return of Chris Godwin should give the offense a boost.

Meanwhile, Green Bay is the only team to score at least 30 points every game this season and will have Davante Adams back in the mix after their bye week. We like the resurgent Rodgers (+300 for NFL MVP) to keep rolling against a Bucs defense that will be without nose tackle Vita Vea for the rest of the year. Packers (-1.0)

The Cowboys are home underdogs after Dak Prescott’s gruesome Week 5 ankle injury caused the line in this week’s game versus Arizona to move 6.5 points in the Cardinals’ direction. While Dallas’ defense remains a problem, our spidey sense tells us that we’re only getting started with the “Is Andy Dalton a better QB for this Cowboys team?” hot takes that will lead every sports talk show in the country this week. Cowboys (+1.5)

The 0-4 Jets drew additional ridicule this week by releasing free-agent bust Le’Veon Bell. While divisional games are always unpredictable, it’s hard to see New York staying within 10 points of a 2-3 Miami team that has answered the bell every time out this season. Dolphins (-9.5)

On the topic of bad coaches like Adam Gase that are still somehow employed, Matt Patricia somehow survived through the Lions bye week and will now head to Jacksonville to face a Jags team that has lost to previously winless squads (Dolphins, Bengals and Texans) in each of their last three times out. Patricia could be the next coach to get canned (+350 at Bovada) if he doesn’t make it out of Florida with a win, but we think he’ll get it. Lions (-3.5)

NFL UPSET PICK OF THE WEEK

The Browns (+160) are riding a 16-game losing streak in Pittsburgh that dates back to 2003, so it’s hard to see Baker Mayfield emerging from Heinz Field victorious against a Steelers team that is 4-0 for the first time since 1979.

All four of the Rams wins this season have come against the NFC East, so it’s far from a lock that they hand their NFC rivals in San Francisco (+165) their third-straight loss. Should the beat-up 49ers lose again, however, they then face a murderer’s row of opponents (Patriots, Seahawks, Packers, Saints, Rams, Bills). We sure hope you took the UNDER (10.5 wins) on the Niners this season.

Now to our upset pick of the week: we like the 1-4 Texans (+160) to knock off an undefeated Titans team that will be playing on a short week after an emotional win over the Bills on Tuesday night. Houston and Tennessee have split their season series dating back to 2016, and the post-Bill O’Brien Texans should be plenty motivated and desperate to keep their season alive in this AFC South divisional clash.

Upset of the Week: Texans (+160)

Are NFL Players Safer Without Hip Drop Tackle?

Last offseason, the NFL decided to ban the hip drop tackle. For those unaware, a hip drop tackle occurs when a tackler wraps up a ball carrier with both hands or arms then swivels his hips and unweights himself (leaves his feet) to complete the tackle. The result of the tackle typically leaves the tackler […] The post Are NFL Players Safer Without Hip Drop Tackle? appeared first on Sportsbook Advisor . from Sportsbook Advisor https://ift.tt/m09iAka via IFTTT
