- Bovada has updated lines on all 14 Week 4 matchups across the NFL this Sunday and Monday
- The underrated Colts (-3.0) will have no trouble covering the spread against Nick Foles’ Bears
- DeAndre Hopkins’ ankle injury could make the Cardinals ripe for an upset in Carolina
The Week 4 NFL slate is missing a matchup as the Steelers/Titans game was rescheduled to Week 7 after a number of Tennessee players contracted COVID-19.
The postponement serves as an important reminder not to take the 2020 NFL season for granted as it all (the gambling, our fantasy leagues, even the crappy Thursday Night games) could go up in smoke at any time.
Until then, let’s look at the Week 4 odds at Bovada and identify some winners. After a rough Week 3, we’re a respectable 8-4 against the spread on the year, as well as 6-4 with our moneyline upset picks.

COVERING THE SPREAD
The Colts are the top-ranked defensive team in the league through three games (although playing the Jags, Vikings and Jets certainly helps), and according to Chris Wesselling’s QB Index, Philip Rivers is connecting on at least 75 percent of his attempts at more than 7.5 yards per pass.
While you never truly know what Nick Foles will show up on Sunday, we don’t like the Bears’ chances of moving to 4-0. Colts (-3.0)

Indianapolis is being slept on because they lost the opener to a Jacksonville team that everyone expected to tank this season (well, not us). The Jaguars followed that performance up with a tight 33-30 loss to Tennessee before being blown out by the Dolphins on Thursday Night Football last week.
Now they’re slight road dogs to a winless Cincinnati operation that seems to be proactively trying to get Joe Burrow killed. In a bit of a homecoming for former Bengals OC Jay Gruden, we expect Jacksonville to win outright. Jags (+2.5)
The Saints will be without a number of key players in Detroit, including WR Michael Thomas, TE Jared Cook, their two starting corners, Marshon Lattimore and Janoris Jenkins, and left guard Andrus Peat. (And we haven’t even mentioned Drew Brees’ dead arm yet). Still, even with everything pointing towards the Lions, this feels like a game that Matt Patricia will blow. Saints (-3.0)
MONEYLINE PICKS
Despite only missing two regular-season games in his eight-year NFL career, DeAndre Hopkins looks poised to miss Sunday’s contest with the Panthers. Arizona could struggle on offense without Nuk, who leads the NFL in receptions (32) and receiving yards (356), and they’ll sorely miss safety Budda Baker as well.
Coming off a respectable 21-16 road win over the Chargers, we like a young Carolina (+155) team to keep momentum rolling.

Picking against Patrick Mahomes is of course pure insanity, but it’s not like this Bill Belichick character doesn’t know how to win football games. Certainly, he and Josh McDaniels won’t be as easy to knock off their gameplan as the Ravens were in the Chiefs’ 34-20 Monday Night Massacre.
After going blow for blow with Russell Wilson in Week 2, Cam Newton is plenty capable of matching points with Mahomes. While the spread is +7.0, we expect New England (+250) to keep it within a field goal and maybe, just maybe, shock the NFL world with a win.
