PICKS AGAINST THE SPREAD

Expect the Seahawks to cover the two points on the road in Atlanta. There seems to be renewed optimism around the Falcons offense after they brought in the corpse of Todd Gurley and overpaid for tight end Hayden Hurst, but this is still a team with a lame-duck head coach and an under-performing defense.

Seattle has lost five out of six season openers on the road under head coach Pete Carroll, but we like Russell Wilson to cook in this matchup.

The Dolphins defeated the Patriots in Week 17 last year, costing New England a much-needed bye. With Cam Newton now under center, we believe Bill Belichick will exact revenge against his old DC Brian Flores, winning by double digits.

Pittsburgh could have the best defense in the NFL, and could be facing one of the worst teams in the league in the Giants. In shape and watching more game film than pornography for a change, Ben Roethlisberger should have no trouble racking up points on New York’s sad secondary.

MONEYLINE PICKS

In this section, we’ll be offering our best upset picks for Week 1 because it’s not fun nor profitable to bet moneyline favorites.

Banking on a ferocious defensive line led by No. 2 overall pick Chase Young and improved play from sophomore quarterback Dwayne Haskins, we like Washington at +210 to defeat a beat up Eagles team that is already missing key wide receivers and offensive lineman.

Speaking of injuries, the 49ers will likely be without Deebo Samuel and rookie Brandon Aiyuk on Sunday, opening the door for a Cardinals (+255) squad that played them tough in both 2019 matchups before adding receiver/super agent DeAndre Hopkins.

Finally, the Bears (+132) aren’t a bad bet against a Detroit team that might be without receiver Kenny Golladay (hamstring). Somehow, Mitch Trubisky has thrown for 866 yards, nine touchdowns and just one interception in three starts against Matt Patricia’s Lions.

One month into the college football season and things don’t really look how we expected.
