Navigating The Current Sports Betting Void

In the blink of an eye, the month of March went from one of the busiest times of the sports betting calendar to the quietest one in the history of wagering on the games. The coronavirus outbreak in all four corners of the world has drastically changed the landscape of life as we know it.

The most important aspect of handling the new norm is to stay safe. Taking all the necessary precautions to limit the overall impact of this outbreak should be top of mind. However, the seriousness of the situation can take its toll on anyone’s psyche. Sports has always been the common bond that brings people from all walks of life together. Unfortunately because of the nature of this virus, staying apart is the best way to combat its spread.

For diehard sports bettors, this is going to be a rough patch for anyone looking for some action on all the games and events that are not taking place. This is the time of the year when just about every major sports league was in action. From the cancelled NCAA Tournament to the postponed NBA and NHL seasons, everything is on hold right now. With no specific timetable in place for a return to live games, sports bettors are left in a ‘wait and see’ scenario.

Although many avid bettors might disagree, this is not the worst thing in the world. Staying safe and staying healthy needs to be the No. 1 priority for everyone right now. In the grand scheme of things, taking a break from your daily or weekly sports betting routine can actually turn out to be a positive thing in the long run.

The chance to reflect of the recent past while looking forward to the future can serve its purpose in the sports betting world. Do not tell that to all the land-based and online sportsbooks right now scrambling for any betting action they can find. However, it is rare that any avid sports bettor gets a chance to stop and catch their breath will so much action on the board for most of the year.

Football led right into basketball with a world of other sporting events filling any gaps. Even if you have been killing it since early September, there had to be more than a few bad betting habits that cost you money over the past several months.

Chasing a bad beat, doubling down on low percentage bets and extending a parlay one team too many are all examples of bad betting habits that creep into everyone’s overall betting strategy.

One of the biggest mistakes is moving away from tried and true money management betting strategies. Suddenly six and seven unit plays start replacing a much more conservative three to four unit bet. Maybe your last reload to an online sports betting account was made with money that you really could not afford to lose.

Taking a forced break is nobody’s top choice right now. Losing March Madness hurts and it is a sting that is not going to go away overnight. However, this current break will pave the way for a brighter betting future. Sports will be back stronger than ever. Betting will resume with a renewed passion. Take this time off and make the most of it by creating a brand new betting strategy that will continually improve your overall sports betting results.

One month into the college football season and things don’t really look how we expected.
